The Government of Hong Kong has established Air Quality Objectives (AQOs) in the Air Pollution Control Ordinance (Cap. 311). These AQOs are designed to protect public health and the environment from the effects of air pollution.

Air quality monitoring services measure several key air pollutants. These pollutants include particulate matter (PM), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), ozone (O3), and carbon monoxide (CO). Additionally, the air quality monitoring services may also measure other pollutants, such as lead, nitrogen oxides, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
